Is Wear The Peace's clothing ethical?Updated a year ago

Here at Wear The Peace, we screen print (which never fades) and embroider all of our clothing on blanks that pride themselves on an Anti-Sweatshop Movement and Clean Energy.  All of our clothing is screen printed and embroidered right here in Chicago Illinois at Culture Studio. It was important for us to choose a manufacturer that we can meet with in person and one that focuses on good health, safety, and fair compensation.

These are statements from our supplier for our clothing (the blanks)-

  1. "All of our apparel is produced ethically in our socially-compliant WRAP-certified (Worldwide Responsible Accredited Production) factories that are sweatshop-free and child labor-free."

  2. "We are reducing our carbon footprint through the use of motion sensor automated lighting throughout the warehouses and offices reducing electrical usage by up to 25%. Our warehouses feature a paperless pick/pack system diverting tons of waste from local landfills. In addition, we have recycling programs for our cardboard and office supplies. Our largest sewing factory has installed a new electric grid. This facility is now run 100% on wind power and also provides excess electricity to the community supporting sustainability throughout the community.

  3. "Suppliers will comply with applicable wage and hour laws and regulations, including those relating to minimum wages and overtime pay. All employees will receive proper compensation for all work done."

  4. "Every one of our styles that are produced overseas are fair trade (we’re also always in contact with these factories to ensure they’re following our ethical policies), and we produce over 10 million garments each year in the United States. "
